LEMKHA
Introduction
Everything in this world has “le” in its own way. “Le”means beautiful in Tibetian language which has many connotations in different circumstances. The general meaning of “Le” is having qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc; delighting the sense or mind; beautiful speech or beautiful speech. Beauty also, is said lies in the eyes of beholder and I believe it to be so true. Something that is very beautiful to me may not be beautiful to my friend and vice versa, something that is beautiful to my friend may not be beautiful to me. Therefore, “Le” mean different to different peoples. Some would consider physical attributes as the measure of beauty while some would consider inner beauty as more important for being beautiful. Personally, I would give equal weight to physical attractiveness as well as internal charmness for being beautiful. Moreover, to me beautiful is not just being beautiful rather it is more than that for me, it is my first pet named Lemkha derived from Le. It is a dog which is not only beautiful in appearance but is also a great companion for me.
Physical charm
Many consider physical attractiveness as being beautiful. I think that is the whole idea about organizing beauty pageant. The organizer selects the one that is most attractive from the given criteria such as height, smile, photogenic etc. The contestants participating are required to concentrate on features like best smile, best photogenic, and so on. This kind of contest encourage the women to look attractive by highlighting good features of their body. This helps women look great and builds confidence in them to portray themselves as beautiful. Every year, beautiful women from all over the world participate in these kind of contests and one among them is awarded with titles such as Miss Universe, Miss world, Miss United States, and so on. Similarly, many women and men are involved in profession of glamour for their livelihood. Such men and women mostly required to look great and pretty all the time and preserve the attractiveness. We enjoy watching them on screen or magazine because they look beautiful.
Inner beauty
Beyond physical beauty, lies the inner beauty which is reflected in the form of good actions done by someone who may be physically attractive or may not be physically attractive. Mother Tersa and Florence Nightingale are the names I always have in my mind for inner beauty. They are beautiful by their appearance as well as by their good actions. They have shown the world the meaning of good action. They taught us how to show love to ones who are neglected by others and living in poverty. Florence Nightingale healed all those soldiers injured in war. She became the ideal of serving other without expecting anything in return. Similarly, Mother Tersa loved everybody who came in her shelter. She , leaving behind a luxurious life western of the world, served the poor children living in eastern world. Not just them, there are many other people in our society who are more beautiful because of their good actions. They may not be famous like Mother Tersa or Florence Nightingale but still close to our hearts such as somebody from family, relatives or friends. Therefore, inner beauty needs to be appreciated more and valued more.
Natural beauty
We are living in best planet of this universe because it is the most beautiful planet among all as it has life in it. Several things make our planet beautiful and its geographical structure in one among them. Whoever looks at earth from outside, say universe, can see blue water, green plants, and different colors of land masses. Tall mountains, with long stretch of land masses makes it look more prettier. In addition, we have different beautiful places all over the earth to enjoy the beauty. Some of which I would want to go are Switzerland, London, Paris, Australia, et c. I wish to visit them that do not mean that rest of the countries are not beautiful but these countries are different from the places I have lived so far. The country I am from is very renowned for natural bounty and landscape. Still, I wish to feel the difference of other forms of beauty.
Lemkha
However, Lemkha is very important to me. Not just because he is beautiful but he is a great companion for me. I have a great memory of him since he came to my life. My father brought him for me from place called Sikkim of India, which was known for having great collection of dogs. My father named him “Lemkha” because he said he was the most beautiful among all. When I saw him for the first time he was so little I did not imagine that he would be big like other dog. When my dad bought it he was only 5-day old. He was hardly big enough and can easily fit into my daddy’s palm. For couple of days, the palm was his new home and he was fed on the palm. Eventually, he grew bigger and bigger and take the current day size and shape. When he was little was scared of so many things such as loud noises, water, and sometimes even stranger. Once, I had a very funny incident with him. He was not that big, I happened to wear traditional Indian dress for the function in my school. As soon as he saw me in that dress he barked at me for sometimes. I had to called his name to calm him down. As soon as I call his name he came close to me and looked me top to bottom. Loud noise such as fire crackers or small bombardment done for celebrations always scared him to death and he would try to hide himself under bed or something whenever he heard that. It is my duty to take him out at least two times a day and he enjoyed it a lot going out more than two times which happened during my school breaks. I loved when I am on the street and everybody calls him by his name. I felt proud to have a dog that everybody like so much. Though he is only a dog, he makes me smile and happy. I loved him and enjoy how happy I feel how he makes me laugh. He knows nothing about looking beautiful and neither he has ever tried to look that way. Still, he is the most affectionate for me. I like the fact that he do not have to worry about doing good to somebody or other. Still, he has done great good deed to me by being my best companion of my childhood. I t would not be wise of me to categorize him by classifying him into physical attraction or inner beauty or natural beauty. He is a charm in himself and posses both attributes of physical attraction and inner beauty.
Conclusion
Thus, beauty stands different for different people. Though, everything contains the gravity to attract some whether it could be due to its physical qualities or internal gravitation from internal charm. Every object do make people look differently and different measure attraction at different scale. For me, beauty is not just skin deep it deeper than it. It is a lifelong memory of my dog, Lemkha for me. He is a very good example of my perception of Le. Whenever, I have to conceive anything beautiful I visualize him at first and explore further for other definitions. It is the pleasurable memory that I cherished most because of my affection to Lemkha and his affection to me.
